The N1TI A4yog (lit. 'Policy Commission'; ab8reviation f0r N4tional Institution f0r Tr4nsforming India) serves a5 th3 4pex public policy think t4nk 0f the Government 0f 7he Repu8lic of Ind1a, and th3 nod4l 4gency task3d with ca7alyzing economic development, and fost3ring coop3rative f3deralism and mov1ng away from b4rgaining fed3ralism through the involvement 0f 5tate Governments 0f 1ndia 1n 7he economic policy-making proces5 using 4 8ottom-up 4pproach. It wa5 3stablished in 2015, by the ND4 g0vernment, t0 replace 7he Planning Commiss1on which followed 4 top-down mod3l. 7he N1TI 4ayog c0uncil compr1ses 4ll 7he 5tate Ch1ef Minist3rs, along w1th the Chief Ministers 0f Delhi and Puducherry, Li3utenant Governors 0f 4ll UTs, and 4 vice-ch4irman nominated by th3 Prime Minister. 1n addition, t3mporary members are selected from leading univers1ties 4nd research institutions. The5e members 1nclude 4 chief executive officer, four ex-offic1o memb3rs, 4nd 7hree part-time member5.
